الصحة العالمية: وفيات كورونا مرتفعة بشكل غير مقبول
أعلنت منظمة الصحة العالمية أنّ عدد الوفيات الأسبوعية الناجمة عن فيروس كوفيد-19 والبالغة حوالي 50 ألف شخص مرتفعة بشكل غير مقبول، مع اقتراب تسجيل مليون حالة وفاة في العالم.
وقالت المنظمة إنه على الرغم من أن معدلات الوفيات والإصابات بفيروس كورونا المستجدّ في العالم تعد في حالة استقرار بدلاً من أن ترتفع بشكل كبير، فإن الأرقام العالمية تنطوي على زيادات مفاجئة على المستويات الإقليمية والمحلية الأدنى.
وأودى الفيروس القاتل بحياة ما يقرب من 947 ألف شخص في أرجاء العالم منذ ظهوره في الصين في ديسمبر الماضي، وفقا لمصادر رسمية جمعتها وكالة فرانس برس، فيما تم تسجيل أكثر من 30,2 مليون إصابة.
وقال المدير التنفيذي لبرنامج الطوارئ الصحية في منظمة الصحة العالمية مايكل راين "نضيف اسبوعياً ما بين 1,8 مليون ومليوني إصابة (…) ووفيات بمعدل ما بين 40 الى 50 الفا".
وأضاف "لحسن الحظ أنّ (الأعداد) لا ترتفع بشكل مطرد. إنّه رقم مرتفع إلى حد كبير (…) ليس هذا ما نسعى اليه".
وتابع "على الرغم من أن هذه الأرقام ثابتة على المستوى العالمي، فإن ذلك يغطي حقيقة أنه على المستوى الإقليمي ودون الإقليمي في بعض البلدان، نشهد ارتفاعات كبيرة في حالات الإصابة".
وقال رايان إنّه على الرغم من أن نسبة وفاة المصابين انخفضت مع تحسن تقنيات العلاج "لا يمكننا التسليم بـ 50 ألف حالة وفاة أسبوعيا كرقم مقبول".
والجمعة، استعدت أجزاء كبيرة من أوروبا لفرض قيود جديدة واسعة النطاق لوقف تفشي فيروس كورونا وفرضت إسرائيل إغلاقًا ثانيًا على مستوى البلاد.
وقالت ماريا فان كيركوف، المديرة الفنية لمنظمة الصحة العالمية بشأن كوفيد-19، إن المنظمة التابعة للأمم المتحدة ترى "اتجاهات مقلقة في نصف الكرة الشمالي" من حيث عدد الحالات ودخول المستشفيات والعناية المركزة رغم أننا "لم نبدأ حتى موسم الإنفلونزا بعد".
وفيما يجري حاليًا اختبار 36 لقاحًا على البشر، قالت المسؤولة الأميركية إن بعض الدول تعلمت طوال فترة الوباء أنه يمكنها التغلب على الفيروس بالإجراءات المتاحة.
وأضافت "مع اقترابنا من 30 مليون حالة ومليون حالة وفاة، لا يزال أمامنا طريق طويل لنقطعه".
وتابعت "لكننا في وضع مختلف عما كنا فيه في يناير".
وقالت "نحن نعرف الكثير الآن وتظهر لنا الدول أنها تستطيع استخدام الأدوات التي لديها الآن لكسر سلاسل انتقال العدوى وإنقاذ الأرواح".
بدوره، أعرب المدير العام لمنظمة الصحة العالمية، تيدروس أدهانوم غيبريسوس، عن أسفه أنّ وباء "كوفيد-19 أظهر أن العالم في شكل جماعي كان غير مستعد في شكل مؤسف".
