كشفت دراسة قام بها باحثون في جامعة ييل الأميركية أن التقليل من كمية السعرات الحرارية ضمن الحمية الغذائية قد يساعد في الشفاء من مرض السكري النوع الثاني.
وبعد نتائج مبشرة على ما نسبته 40 بالمئة من مرضى شملتهم الدراسة، بدأ الباحثون بالقيام بتجارب على الفئران لمعرفة ما يحدث داخل الجسم تحديدا وكيف قد يؤثر التقليل من السعرات الحرارية المستهلكة على مرض السكري.
وقام الباحثون بإجراء الدراسة على مجموعة من الفئران كانت قد أبدت أعراض مشابهة للسكري من النمط الثاني في البشر، وكانت مصابة بحالات مرضية ترافق عادة مريض السكري من النوع الثاني، بما في ذلك دهون الكبد والسمنة وفرط الأنسولين.
وتم إخضاع الفئران لحمية غذائية منخفضة السعرات استمرت لمدة 3 أيام فقط، وقام الباحثون خلال هذه الفترة باستعمال مجموعة من التقنيات، التي قاموا باختراعها لقياس ومراقبة مجموعة من التغيرات الأيضية الداخلية والتي تتسبب بإنتاج الكبد لكميات زائدة من الجلوكوز.
وكشفت الدراسة أن إخضاع الفئران لحمية غذائية قليلة السعرات كان له تأثير قوي، إذ خفض معدل ووتيرة عمليات تحويل اللاكتات والأحماض الأمينية إلى جلوكوز، كما خفض معدل ووتيرة تحويل الجليكوجين الكبدي إلى جلوكوز، وخفض أيضا محتويات الكبد من الدهون، ما جعل الكبد أكثر استجابة وحساسية للأنسولين.
وهذه الأمور جميعها ساهمت في خفض مستويات السكر في الدم بشكل كبير وإعادته إلى نسبه الطبيعية، مع ملاحظة أن هذه النتائج بنيت على 3 أيام من الدراسة فقط، لم يتم فيها ملاحظة خسارة وزن ظاهري كبيرة.
وبدأ العلماء في إجراء أبحاث مكثفة مؤخرا على مرض السكري من النوع الثاني، والذي بات الكثيرون منهم يعتبرونه مرضا قابلا للشفاء إذا ما خضع المصاب به للعلاج الملائم.
