أكدت الأمم المتحدة أنه من المتوقع أن تشكل السنوات الخمس الأخيرة (من 2015 إلى 2019) الفترة الأشد حرا منذ البدء بتدوين درجات الحرارة في السجلات بشكل منهجي.
وأفادت الأمم المتحدة في تقرير نشر عشية قمة زعماء العالم حول المناخ في نيويورك، أن الأعوام الخمس الأخيرة، قد تكون الأشد حرارة، حسب توقع العلماء المختصين.
وتوقع العلماء أن يكون متوسط الحرارة للفترة 2015-2019 أعلى بـ1.1 درجة مئوية، بالمقارنة مع ذاك الذي كان سائدا في الفترة بين 1850 و1900، بحسب التقرير الصادر عن المنظمة العالمية للأرصاد الجوية.
وحتى لو تم الإيفاء بكل التعهدات التي قطعت في سياق اتفاق باريس حول المناخ، وهو احتمال مستبعد، فإن حرارة الأرض سترتفع بواقع 3 درجات مئوية تقريبا في نهاية القرن الجاري.
ودعا العلماء إلى تكثيف الجهود المبذولة في هذا الصدد 5 أضعاف.
