66 دولة تتعهد الالتزام بهدف تحييد أثر الكربون بحلول 2050
أعلنت الأمم المتحدة، الاثنين، قبيل افتتاح قمة حول المناخ، أن 66 دولة وعدت بالالتزام بهدف تحييد أثر الكربون بحلول عام 2050.
وتنضم هذه الدول الـ66 إلى 10 مناطق و102 مدينة، و93 شركة، للوصول إلى تحييد أثر انبعاثات الغاز ذات مفعول الدفيئة بحلول منتصف القرن، وهو هدف حدده العلماء لاحتواء ظاهرة الاحتباس الحراري ضمن الحدود الواردة في اتفاق باريس الموقع عام 2015.
وجاء في بيان صادر عن مكتب الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة، أنطونيو غوتيريس، أن تلك الدول "كلها تعهدت الالتزام بالوصول إلى تحييد أثر انبعاثات الكربون بحلول العام 2050".
ويلتقي حوالى 60 من قادة العالم، الاثنين، في الأمم المتحدة لعقد قمة حول المناخ بهدف إعادة إحياء اتفاق باريس الذي تلقى ضربة شديدة مع انسحاب الولايات المتحدة منه، في وقت وصلت انبعاثات الغازات المسببة لمفعول الدفيئة إلى أعلى مستوياتها.
وأعلنت الأمم المتحدة في تقرير صدر الأحد أن السنوات الخمس الماضية كانت الفترة الأشد حرا منذ بدء تسجيل درجات الحرارة بشكل منهجي.
وازدادت حرارة الأرض بمتوسط درجة مئوية عمّا كانت عليه في القرن التاسع عشر، وهي وتيرة ستتسارع.
