أطلقت إدارة الطيران والفضاء الأميركية (ناسا) مساء الخميس، قمرا صناعيا لاستكشاف المنطقة النشطة الغامضة حيث يلتقي الهواء بالفضاء.
وصل القمر الصناعي المسمى "أيكون" اختصارا لاسم "مستكشف الاتصال الأيونوسفيري (الغلاف المتأين)"، إلى مداره بعد تأجيل لمدة عامين، بعد أن أنزل من طائرة تحلق فوق المحيط الأطلسي قبالة ساحل ولاية فلوريدا الأميركية.
