احتفت موسوعة غينيس للأرقام القياسية بأقدم سلحفاة معمرة في العالم، يبلغ عمرها 188 عاما.
ونشرت صفحة غينيس، عبر فيسبوك، صورا للسلحفاة التي تُدعى جوناثان، والتي تعدّ صاحبة الرقم القياسي لأكبر حيوان برّي على قيد الحياة بالموسوعة.
وقالت غينيس -في منشور لها- إن جوناثان « سلحفاة سيشل العملاقة البالغة من العمر 188 عاما، تحمل الرقم القياسي لأقدم حيوان بري على قيد الحياة ».
وأضافت أن السلحفاة جوناثان « تعيش في جزيرة سانت هيلينا النائية في جنوب المحيط الأطلسي، وقد أحضرت من سيشل عام 1882، ويعتقد أنها ولدت عام 1832 ».
وحسب موقع موسوعة غينيس للأرقام القياسية (guinnessworldrecords)، فإن جوناثان عاصرت الحرب العالمية الأولى والثانية، والثورة الروسية، فضلا عن 7 ملوك على العرش البريطاني، و40 رئيسا للولايات المتحدة الأميركية.
