في حوار أجراه فوزي لقجع رئيس الجامعة الملكية المغربية لكرة القدم مطولا مع إذاعة فرنسا الدولية، أكد من خلاله دعمه إقامة كأس العالم مرة كل سنتين، وهو المشروع الذي أطلقته الفيفا ويلقى معارضة شديدة من الإتحاد الأوروبي لكرة القدم.
وقال لقجع « طبعا أنا من المساندين لإقامة كأس العالم مرة كل سنتين، لأن ذلك سيمنح دولا كثيرة فرصة تنمية كرة القدم من جهة بالتواجد في أكبر حدث رياضي عالمي، وسيعطي للدول فرصة تنمية نفسها باستضافة كأس العالم، ثم إن ذلك سيمنح فرصة صعود منتخبات جديدة للبوديوم المونديالي، ما علينا إلا أن نعود لسجل أبطال كأس العالم، لنلاحظ أن عشر دول فقط هي التي تتقاسم اللقب منذ سنة 1930 ».
وقال القجع أنه حتى في حالة تم التوجه لتنظيم كأس العالم مرة كل سنتين لن يحول دون استمرار تنظيم الكان مرة كل سنتين كذلك مردفا إن وقع ذلك سيكون هناك تكامل، إذ ستصبح نهائيات الكان مؤهلة لكأس العالم، وبالتالي لن نكون بحاجة لتصفيات مونديالية.
