غرمت الوكالة المعنية بحماية البيانات في فرنسا، شركة "غوغل" التابعة لمجموعة "ألفابت" 50مليون يورو (57 مليون دولار)، الاثنين، بسبب انتهاكها قواعد الاتحاد الأوروبي للخصوصية على الإنترنت، في أكبر عقوبة من نوعها تتعرض لها إحدى شركات التكنولوجيا الأميركية العملاقة.
وذكرت اللجنة الوطنية للمعلومات والحريات أن أكبر محرك بحث في العالم "افتقر إلى الشفافية والوضوح في الطريقة التي يبلغ بها مستخدميه بتعامله مع البيانات الشخصية، ولم يحصل على الموافقات الملائمة لنشر إعلانات وفقا للاهتمامات الشخصية".
ودخلت اللائحة العامة لحماية البيانات في الاتحاد الأوروبي حيز التنفيذ في مايو الماضي، في أكبر تعديل لقوانين الخصوصية في أكثر من 20 عاما.
وتسمح اللائحة للمستخدمين بالتحكم بصورة أفضل في بياناتهم الشخصية، وتعطي الهيئات التنظيمية سلطة فرض غرامات تصل إلى 4 بالمئة من الإيرادات العالمية على المخالفات.
وقالت اللجنة الوطنية للمعلومات والحريات في بيان: "حجم الغرامة والترويج لها تبرره شدة الانتهاكات المتعلقة بالمبادئ الأساسية للائحة العامة لحماية البيانات: الشفافية والإبلاغ والموافقة".
