علماء يكشفون هياكل وحوش بحرية قديمة
من المنتظر أن يكشف علماء، الجمعة، في معهد سميثسونيان الأميركي، عظام وحوش بحرية قديمة، كانت تعيش على طول سواحل غرب أفريقيا.
وقال موقع "ناشيونال بابليك راديو"، إن علماء عثروا على هياكل زواحف عملاقة، تسمى موساسورات، في سواحل أنغولا، المطلة على المحيط الأطلسي.
ونقل الموقع عن مصدر قوله: "بالرغم من أن أنغولا ليست دولة معروفة بالمستحاثات. لكن من الناحية الجيولوجية، يستحق الأمر بعض الأبحاث".
وذكر المصدر، أنه قبل نحو 135 مليون سنة، شهد جنوب المحيط الأطلسي اضطرابا محيطيا، أدى إلى تغييرات هائلة في مستوى سطح البحر ودرجة الحرارة، مضيفا أن الموساسورات وجدت آنذاك موطنا جديدا لها، وخاضت حربا مع المخلوقات البحرية الأخرى من أجل إثبات وجودها.
ونجحت الموساسورات في الحرب، وظلت تتجول في المحيط الأطلسي لأكثر من 30 مليون سنة، برفقة السلاحف وأسماك القرش وغيرها من الزواحف الكبيرة.
