منصف السلاوي: لقاح كورونا سيكون متوفرا قبل نهاية 2020
أعلن رئيس الفريق الأميركي المكلف بتطوير لقاح كورونا منصف السلاوي، في حوار مع "سكاي نيوز عربية"، أن اللقاح سيكون متوفرا قبل نهاية عام 2020 الجاري.
وذكر السلاوي أن لقاح كورونا سيكون جاهزا بمجرد تجاوز المرحلة الثالثة من التجارب، مشيرا إلى أنه يتم حاليا اختبار "6 أنواع من اللقاحات".
وأضاف "اللقاح سيصبح متوفرا بعد تجاوز المرحلة الثالثة من التجارب ولا يمكن أن نتوقع متى ستظهر النتائج".
وتابع "أنا أقول إنه سيكون جاهزا بين أكتوبر أو نوفمبر أو ديسمبر أو إلى غاية يناير كحد أقصى.. أنا متفائل أن ذلك سيكون قبل نهاية السنة الجارية".
وعن سبب تأخر الوصول إلى اللقاح مقارنة مع روسيا والصين، أوضح السلاوي "المرحلة الثالثة من التجارب صعبة تقنيا ومكلفة ماديا، لذلك تستغرق وقتا طويلا.. وما أعلنته روسيا والصين أجزم أنه سياسي أكثر من أن يكون تقنيا.. الأمر لا يتعلق بسرعة الإعلان بل بالكفاءة وبإخضاع أكبر عدد ممكن من الأشخاص للقاح".
ثم عاد ليقول "لو كل شيء سار حسب الخطة، سنصل إلى تطعيم كل الأميركيين قبل أبريل وسنكون قادرين آنذاك على تقديم اللقاح لدول أخرى".
وسبق للسلاوي أن أعرب عن ثقته في إنتاج مئات الملايين من جرعات اللقاح ضد جائحة كورونا، بحلول نهاية العام الجاري.
وكان ترامب أعلن، الأسبوع الماضي، أن 100 مليون جرعة من لقاحات مضادة لكوفيد-19 ستكون قد صنعت قبل نهاية العام، مشيرا إلى أن عددا يكفي منها لـ330 مليون أميركي سيكون متوفرا بحلول أبريل 2021.
وفي مايو الماضي، أعلن الرئيس الأميركي دونالد ترامب تعيين العالم المغربي منصف السلاوي على رأس مبادرة البيت الأبيض لتطوير لقاح ضد فيروس كورونا المستجد (كوفيد 11).
