توفي الرئيس الفرنسي الأسبق جاك شيراك، صباح الخميس، عن 86 عاما، كما أعلن صهره فريديريك سالا-بارو لوكالة فرانس برس.
وقال سالا-بارو زوج كلود شيراك إن "الرئيس جاك شيراك، صديق المغرب، توفي هذا الصباح بين عائلته بسلام".
وانتخب شيراك لمنصب رئاسة الجمهورية الفرنسية في 1995، وجدد له في 2002، وانتهت رئاسته بتاريخ 17 مايو 2007.
وتولى منصب عمدة باريس لمدة 18 عاماً من 1977 إلى 1995.
وتولى شيراك رئاسة وزراء فرنسا مرتين من 27 مايو 1974 إلى 26 أغسطس 1976. والفترة الثانية من 20 مارس 1986 إلى 10 مايو 1988.
