نجت طائرة من طراز « بوينغ 737 ماكس » تابعة للشركة الإيرلندية منخفضة التكلفة ريان اير من الكارثة، بعدما اكتشف الطاقم مشكلة فنية في أحد محركيها أثناء تحليقها فوق الأجواء الإسبانية وهي قادمة من العاصمة البلجيكية بروكسيل في اتجاه مدينة مراكش.
وقد اختار الطاقم العودة والتوجه إلى مطار مدريد باراخاس، رغم قطع أكثر من 400 كيلومتر في اتجاه المدن الإسبانية الجنوبية، في وقت كانت مطارات إشبيلية وملقة قريبة جدا.
وقد أكدت المراقبة الجوية في مطار مدريد باراخاس أن طائرة « بوينغ 737 ماكس » التابعة لشركة ريان إير هبطت دون وقوع حوادثـ على الرغم من قطع المسافة المذكورة مع عطب في المحرك.
