أول شركة تصنع الكمبيوتر المحمول تعلن وقف إنتاجه

قالت شركة "توشيبا" اليابانية، مؤخرا، إنها ستتوقف عن صناعة الكمبيوترات الشخصية المحمولة (اللاب توب)، بعدما قضت 35 عاما وهي تنتج هذه الأجهزة.
وبحسب ما نقلت صحيفة "إندبندنت" البريطانية، فإن حصة أعمال الكمبيوترات في "توشيبا" سيجري نقلها إلى شركة "شارب".
وأوردت "توشيبا"، في بيان مقتضب"، أنها حولت حصة من 19.9 في المئة إلى "دينا بوك" التي أصبحت شركة فرعية مملوكة بالكامل من قبل "شارب".
ودفعت "شارب" 27 مليون جنيه إسترليني لأجل الحصول على 80 في المئة من أسهم "توشيبا" خلال سنة 2018.
وكانت "توشيبا" قد صنعت أول كمبيوتر شخصي محمول في سنة 1985، في خطوة بارزة، وكان اسمه "T1100"، وكان هذا الكمبيوتر المحمول، وقتئذ، يعمل ببطاريات قابلة لإعادة الشحن، فضلا عن محرك أقراص وسعة تخزين محدودة لا تتجاوز "256K".
ولم يكن ثمة توقع في تلك الفترة أن يحقق هذا النوع من الكمبيوترات أي نجاح، كما أن سعره كان باهظا، وسرى الاعتقاد بأن الشركة جازفت بطرحه.، غير أنه استطاع أن يحقق نجاحا مهما، رغم أنه طرح في أوروبا فقط.
ورغم هذه الريادة في صنع الكمبيوتر المحمول، عانت شركة "توشيبا" عدة مشاكل وخسائر، خلال السنوات الأخيرة.
وبلغت خسائر الشركة 4.2 مليار جنيه إسترليني، في غضون تسعة أشهر انتهت في 31 ديسمبر 2017، وسط تساؤل حول ما إذا كانت الشركة ستبقى موجودة.
وفي السنة نفسها، غادر رئيس الشركة شيجينوري شيغا، بعدما نشرت توقعات ترجح أن تبلغ الخسارة الصافية ما يقارب 3.4 مليار دولار.
في غضون ذلك، باعت شركة "توشيبا" 17.7 مليون كمبيوتر محمول، خلال ذروة نشاطها في 2013، لكنها تراجعت بعد ذلك إلى 1.4 مليون وحدة فقط في السنة الماضية.
ويعزو خبراء هذا التراجع الكبير لـ "توشيبا" إلى المنافسة الشديدة من قبل شركات تقنية كبرى مثل "أبل" التي تقوم بطرح أجهزة متطورة من قبيل "ماك"، بينما ظلت الشركة اليابانية تعمل بدون إبداع أو تجديد، بحسب منتقدين.
لكن استخدام الكمبيوترات تراجع بدوره، على نحو ملحوظ، وسط إقبال متزايد على الهواتف الذكية والألواح الإلكترونية.
