حاز عسل « سنتوري » التركي على لقب أغلى عسل في العالم ببلوغه ثمن 12 ألف دولار للكيلو الواحد بحسب موسوعة غينيس للأرقام القياسية.
ووصفت الموسوعة العسل بأنه داكن ومذاقه مر، وهو يختلف كلياً عن العسل التقليدي المتعارف عليه.
ويُستخرج عسل سنتوري مرة واحدة سنوياً من كهف يرتفع 2500 متر فوق سطح البحر.
ويحتوي هذا العسل على خصائص طبية فائقة نظرا لما يحتويه من نسب عالية من المغنيسيوم والبوتاسيوم والفينول والفلافونويدز والمواد المضادة للأكسدة.
ويستمد خصائصه العلاجية من الأعشاب الطبية التي تنبت حول الكهف، حيث يتغذى النحل.
