وأوضح الاتحاد أن آخر سباقات الجائزة الكبرى للفورمولا 1 في القارة الأفريقية عقدت في سنة 1993 في كيالامي بجنوب افريقيا، والمشروع الأكثر تقدمًا حاليا لتنظيم سباق بالقارة السمراء هو في حلبة مولاي الحسن بمراكش، والتي تستضيف منذ سنوات سباقي الفورمولا E و WTCR.
