تجربة مثيرة للجدل .. علماء يطورون أعضاء بشرية في الحيوانات
يعمل علماء في جامعة طوكيو اليابانية على مشروع طموح يرمي لحل مشكلة البحث عن أعضاء بشرية بغرض زراعتها.
ووفق ما أوردت وكالة أنباء "شينخوا" الصينية، فإن الباحثين يعملون على تشكيل بنكرياس من خلايا جذعية بشرية، لتزرع في الخنازير، بحيث تتطور لاحقا لعضو كامل جاهز للزراعة.
ونقلت الوكالة عن البروفيسور هيروميتسو ناكوشي المشرف على البحث، قوله إنه يتوقع أن تبدأ اليابان عمليات تنمية الأعضاء البشرية في أجساد الحيوانات خلال عام واحد.
ويخطط فريق ناكوشي لاستخدام الخلايا الجذعية المحفزة بكل جزئياتها لإعادة إنتاج بنكرياس، وذلك لقدرتها على التطور لأي نوع من الخلايا.
كذلك تتميز تلك الخلايا بقدرتها على التشكل من الخلايا البالغة دون الحاجة إلى أجنة، وهو ما سيشكل نقطة إيجابية تحل مشكلات عدم توافق الزرع.
وسيحقن العلماء خلايا جذعية محفزة في جنين خنزير معدل وراثيا ويفتقد القدرة على تطوير عضو البنكرياس، ويوضع بعدها الجنين في رحم بديل.
وقبل الولادة، سيتم إخراج الجنين لفحص أنسجة البنكرياس المستمدة من الخلايا الجذعية المحفزة البشرية، ومدى كفاءة عملها.
ويأمل فريق العلماء الياباني في استخدام البنكرياس المعدل وراثيا لعلاج مرضى السكري في غضون السنوات العشر القادمة.
وكانت وزارة التعليم والعلوم اليابانية قد أعطت الضوء الأخضر لعملية البحث المثيرة للجدل في الأول من مارس الماضي، والتي تنطوي على زراعة خلايا بشرية في أجسام حيوانات للوصول إلى أعضاء بشرية متكاملة.
