دواء رائج وغير متوقع يمنع النوبات القلبية

كشف باحثون بريطانيون أن أحد الأدوية التي تعطى لمن يعانون من ارتفاع الكولسترول في الدم، يمكن أن تشكل حلا سحريا لمنع العديد من النوبات القلبية والسكتات الدماغية.

وتوصلت الدراسة، التي أجراها باحثو من "إمبريال كوليدج لندن" إلى أن الآلاف من النوبات القلبية والوفيات يمكن منعها عن طريق إقناع المرضى بتناول أدوية الستاتين، بالإضافة إلى جرعات أعلى كثافة من أدوية خفض الكولسترول.

ويقول الباحثون إن هذه الاستراتيجية المزدوجة يمكن أن تقلل عدد المشكلات المتعلقة بالقلب والأوعية الدموية، بما في ذلك النوبات القلبية والسكتات الدماغية إلى حوالي 12 ألف حالة سنويا في بريطانيا.

ويعد الناس الذين لديهم مشكلات قلبية وعائية، أكثر عرضة لخطر الإصابة بأمراض أخرى، وعادة ما يُطلب منهم أخذ أدوية الستاتين الخافضة للكولسترول لتقليل المخاطر، وفق ما ذكرت صحيفة "تايمز" البريطانية، السبت.

وفحص الباحثون البريطانيون بيانات 30 ألف مريض بدأوا حديثا في تناول الأدوية لخفض الكولسترول، إما بتناول العقاقير المخفضة له بمفردها، أو مع أدوية أخرى.

ووجدت الدراسة، التي نشرت في إحدى الدوريات الطبية، أن أكبر انخفاض في المخاطر كان بين الأشخاص الذين يتناولون جرعات أعلى كثافة، إلى جانب أولئك الملتزمين تماما بنظام العلاج.

وبالمقارنة مع المرضى الذين لا يتناولون أدوية خفض الكولسترول بشكل منتظم ولا بجرعات كبيرة، انخفض خطر الإصابة بأحد الأمراض القلبية الوعائية بنسبة 40 في المائة، لدى من يتناولون جرعات أكبر أو بانتظام.
