ورغم أن الانبعاثات اليومية انخفضت في أبريل بنسبة 17 في المئة مقارنة بالعام السابق، فما زالت هذه الانبعاثات تعادل مستوياتها في 2006 مما يشير إلى مدى تنامي الانبعاثات في السنوات الـ15 الماضية.
وبحلول أوائل يونيو مع عودة المصانع والمكاتب للعمل، عادت الانبعاثات للارتفاع إلى ما يقرب خمسة في المئة من مستوياتها في 2019 وفقا لتقرير أصدرته عدة جهات تابعة للأمم المتحدة.
