أعلنت الحكومة البريطانية، الثلاثاء، تأجيل الخطط المرتبطة بعودة الجماهير للملاعب ضمن القيود الجديدة المعلنة اليوم لمواجهة موجة ثانية من وباء كوفيد-19.
وكانت الحكومة تخطط للسماح بنسبة تتراوح بين 25 و33 في المئة من الجماهير في الملاعب بدءا من أكتوبر، وذلك لإعطاء دفعة لقطاع الرياضة بعد أشهر من المدرجات الخالية، إلا أن رئيس الوزراء بوريس جونسون قال أمام البرلمان: "ندرك أن انتشار الفيروس يؤثر الآن على قدرتنا على إعادة فتح الملاعب في مسابقات رياضية كبرى"، مضيفا: "لن نتمكن من ذلك في بداية أكتوبر".
وتابع "أقر بالصعوبات التي تواجهها أنديتنا الرياضية والتي تمثل الحياة والروح لمجتمعاتنا ونعمل جاهدين على دعمها"، حسبما نقلت "رويترز"
وجاء القرار البريطاني تحسبا لمخاطر اختلاط الجماهير خلال السفر والتنقلات للمباريات وأثناء دخول الملاعب وفي أماكن الترفيه، رغم أن مخاطر انتشار عدوى فيروس كورونا المسبب لوباء كوفيد-19 في الملاعب المفتوحة تبدو منخفضة.
وكان المدير التنفيذي لرابطة الدوري الممتاز ريتشارد ماسترز، قد شدد في وقت سابق من الشهر الحالي على أهمية عودة قريبة للجماهير إلى الملاعب نظرا لما تواجهه الأندية من خسائر كبيرة.
وقال ماسترز في تصريح لشبكة "بي بي سي" إنه "علينا إعادة المشجعين إلى الملعب في أسرع وقت ممكن، هذا هو الشيء الكبير المفقود، اقتصاديا أو غير ذلك. نحن بحاجة إلى المشجعين مرة أخرى داخل الملاعب لجميع الأسباب وهي الأولوية الأولى".
وأضاف: "أعتقد أنه ربما يكون هناك تصور لاقتصاد الرابطة يمكن أن يصمد أمام أي شيء تقريبا، ولكن إذا خسرت 700 مليون جنيه من الميزانية المخطط لها، فسوف يؤثر ذلك على الأمور وكان على الأندية اتخاذ بعض القرارات الصعبة للغاية".
ووفق تقارير صحفية فإن قادة من أكثر من مئة اتحاد رياضي توجهوا برسالة مكتوبة إلى رئيس الوزراء البريطاني طالبوا فيها بتمويل طارئ، حسبما ذكرت "فرانس برس".
