الجيش الأميركي يدرس استخدام الأسماك في التجسس
اقترحت إحدى الوكالات التابعة لوزارة الدفاع الأميركية مبادرة لاستخدام الحيوانات البحرية في مراقبة الأنشط البشرية تحت المياه، الأمر الذي قد يساعد في التجسس على الدول المعادية.
وتريد الوكالة معرفة ما إذا كانت الكائنات البحرية، التي تشمل العوالق أو البلانكتون اللامعة وسمك الهامور العملاق وغيرها، قادرة على أن تكون بمثابة مكون لأنظمة مراقبة تحت الماء قادرة على اكتشاف طائرات دون الطيار التي تحلق فوق المحيطات والغواصات النووية الكبيرة وغيرها من المركبات تحت الماء.
وأطلق على هذه المبادرة اسم مجسات الحياة البحرية المتواصلة (PALS).
وتقول صحيفة "الإندبندنت" البريطانية إن العديد من الكائنات البحرية تستجيب بشكل مسموع أو مرئي للتحولات الصوتية والضوئية والكهرومغناطيسية والكيميائية في المياه المحيطة بها.
فعلى سبيل المثال، يرتبك سمك القاروص عند سماع أصوات المركبات تحت الماء، كما تتفاعل بعض الميكروبات في البحار مع التركيبات المغناطيسية للغواصات.
ويمكن لتكنولوجيا المراقبة الحالية التقاط هذا السلوك الناتج عن تعامل الكائنات البحرية معه وكأنه ضوضاء يبرز من الخلفية.
وقالت لوري أدورناتو، مديرة المبادرة، التي تديرها الوكالة الفيدرالية لمشاريع الأبحاث المتقدمة: "تم تطوير برنامج PALS لزيادة الحساسية الكبيرة التي تتمتع بها الكائنات الحية في المحيط للتغيرات في بيئتها".
ولم يتضح بعد المعدات التي قد تستخدمها الوكالة في تنفيذ مبادرتها، إلا أن استخدام السونار في البحر يعد نهجا تقليديا للمراقبة تحت الماء، لكن عيبه يتمثل في سهولة اكتشافه من قبل الخصوم.
كما أن بعض أجهزة السونار والرادارات غالية الثمن، ومرهقة للتركيب، وعرضة للتآكل، أو تغطيها الكائنات الحية، وهو الأمر الذي من المفترض أن تتفاديه المبادرة.
وخصصت الوكالة 45 مليون دولار لـ5 مجموعات بحثية تعمل في هذا المشروع، وتدرس كل منها نوعا من الحيوانات البحرية وكيفية رد فعله على التغيرات في البيئة المحيطة بها.
وبعد ذلك ستحلل البيانات، ثم سيشرع الباحثون في تطوير تكنولوجيا ستتيح للعسكريين متابعة هذه التغيرات.
