مستشفى يستعين بروبوت لنقل أسوأ الأخبار للمرضى

يزداد الاعتماد على الذكاء الاصطناعي في مختلف المجالات، يوما بعد يوم، إلا أن مستشفى أميركيا يواجه عاصفة من الغضب بعد أن لجأ إلى روبوت ليبلغ أسرة مريض أنه على وشك الموت.

وكان إرنست كوينتانا (78 عاما) قد أُدخل إلى مستشفى كايزر برماننت في ولاية كاليفورنيا الأميركية، خلال عطلة نهاية الأسبوع، بسبب معاناته من مشاكل في التنفس، قبل أن يتوفى يوم الثلاثاء.

وخلال وجوده في قسم العناية المركزة، مع حفيدته، دخل روبوت إلى الغرفة، فيما ظهر طبيب على شاشة مثبتة على الروبوت، وأبلغ المريض بأنه على وشك أن يموت.

وقالت حفيدة المريض، أناليسيا، التي صورت المشهد على هاتفها المحمول، إن ممرضة أخبرتهما بأن طبيبا سيأتي قريبا للقاء المريض، لكنهما فوجئا بالروبوت وهو يدخل الغرفة.

وأضافت: "ظهر أمامنا طبيب على شاشة الروبوت، وقال لجدي إن نتائج الفحوصات ظهرت وأن رئتيه لا تعملان"، مشيرة إلى أنها اضطرت لإعادة حديث الطبيب لجدها، لأنه يواجه صعوبات في السمع بأذنه اليمنى، ولم يكن باستطاعة الروبوت أن يتحرك نحو الجهة الأخرى من السرير.

وأوضحت عائلة الرجل، أنها كانت على علم بأن حالته الصحية سيئة وأنه في نهاية حياته، لكنها لم تكن تعلم أنه لم يعد أمامه سوى أيام قليلة قبل أن يموت، مما أثار صدمتها وغضبها من الطريقة التي تلقت فيها الأخبار السيئة.

وقالت ابنة الرجل، كاثرين كوينتانا: "إذا كنت ستأتي لتخبرنا أخبارا عادية، فلا بأس بذلك (استخدام الروبوت)، لكن إذا كنت ستخبرنا بأن رئتيه في حالة سيئة وأنه سيتم حقنه بالمورفين حتى يموت، فيجب أن يأتي طبيب بشري ويقوم بذلك، وليس مجرد آلة".

 من حانبها، دافعت المستشفى عن استخدام الروبوتات في مثل هذه الحالات، لافتة إلى أن أطباء بشر تحدثوا قبل ذلك مع أسرة المريض وأخبروهم بأن وضعه الصحي سيء، لكن مسؤولة في المستشفى اعترفت بأن المستشفى تحرص على وجود طبيب أو ممرضة مع الروبوت خلال قيامه بجولات، وهو أمر لم يحدث مع عائلة كوينتانا.

وأضافت أن المستشفى ستعمل على "استغلال هذا الموقف لإعادة النظر في طرق تحسين تجربة المرضى من خلال محادثات الفيديو".
