تعرف الشوارع الرئيسية لمدينة مراكش، وخاصة على مستوى المحاور الطرقية المهمة مثل تقاطع « بريستيجيا » وتقاطع المركز التجاري « منارة مول »، عودة ظاهرة التسول بشكل كبير، من طرف أطفال لا يتجاوز عمرهم 14 سنة، أغلبهم متشردين، أصبحوا يقلقون راحة مستعملي الطريق ويهددون سلامتهم.
وينتشر هؤلاء المتسولين على شكل مجموعات متفرقة على جانب الطريق، ليلا ونهارا، يترصدون أصحاب السيارات طلبا لبعض النقود، بأسلوب من الاستعطاف والإلحاح، وحتى بالتهديد والسب والقذف في بعض الأحيان.
وقد دعت هيئات ومنظمات حقوقية بالمدينة الحمراء، في أكثر من مناسبة، إلى اتخاذ تدابير صارمة في حق المتسولين بالشوارع والحد بشكل فوري مع هذه الظاهرة التي تعطي صورة سيئة للعاصمة السياحية للمملكة، سواء لدى مواطنيها أو لدى الزوار الأجانب، كما أنها تتسبب في انتشار الجريمة وشيوعها.
