تألقت جامعة القاضي عياض مرة أخرى في مجال البحث العلمي بعد تألق أستاذها الدكتور رشيد هكو أستاذ بكلية العلوم والتقنيات بمراكش وفوزه بالنسخة 2020 لجائزة دفيد هوبر في البحت من اجل التنمية وصلت قيمتها إلى 50 الف دولار كندي والتي كانت تضم ايضا 33 مشاركا من جامعات مختلفة
و فاز المشروع العلمي الذي تقدم به الدكتور هكو تحت عنوان « تقييم نفايات التعدين وطرق ترميم مواقع التعدين » ،بجائزة المركز الدولي لأبحاث التنمية كندا للباحثين البارزين من البلدان منخفضة ومتوسطة الدخل الذين تلقوا بالفعل او يتلقون حاليا الدعم من « IDRC » ، الى جانب الباحتة والأستاذة بجامعة كولومبيا ، تيريزا موسكويرا فاسكيز
يشار ان الأستاذ رشيد هكو قد فاز بالنسخة 2015 لجائزة الحسن التاني للبيئة، والتي تم منحها للأستاذ في حفل خاص سنة 2016 خلال افتتاح الدورة التامنة للمجلس الوطني للبيئة و المنعقدة تحت الرعاية السامية لصاحب الجلالة الملك محمد السادس
