نشرت المجلة العلمية الأسبوعية « الطبيعة » ، التي تأسست عام 1869 في بريطانيا، فهرسها السنوي للبحث العلمي الذي يحصر المنشورات العلمية للدول والمؤسسات والجامعات، في نسخته لسنة 2021، حيث حل المغرب في المركز الرابع في ترتيب القارة الأفريقية وجامعة القاضي عياض بمراكش على رأس الجامعات المغربية.
وتميز المغرب على مستوى القارة الافريقية بما مجموعه 71 منشورا علميا، خلف جنوب إفريقيا (392 منشور) ومصر وكينيا، في المراكز الثلاثة الأولى على التوالي.
وتركز عمل الباحثين المغاربة بشكل أساسي على العلوم الفيزيائية، من خلال 50 منشورا، تليها علوم الحياة (9)، الكيمياء (5) وأخيرا علوم الأرض والبيئة (4).
هذا وقد حلت جامعة القاضي عياض في مراكش في المركز 26 افريقيا، فيما لم تتمكن أي جامعة مغربية من احتلال المراكز 500 الأولى في التصنيف العالمي.
